Talk about an artist with a versatile set list. Read more here about Rick Jawnsun's outstanding acoustic show this past Friday night, which covered a vast array of genres and had everyone's ear til the final note.

Last Friday was like any other at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill located at the edge of bricktown: filled to capacity. Murmers from around the bar asked for when Rick was going to get on stage. Naturally, having never seen Rick Jawnsun play before, I was anxious to see if he met my preconceived high expectations. Let me be the first to tell you that he delivered. Rick and company kicked off the show with his particularly well-done rendition of "Knocking on Heaven's Door" originally written and performed by American icon and music legend Bob Dylan. Rick was loyal to the song's original, encapturing the same slow-paced rhythm and bitterseet tone that makes this song so compassionately mesmorizing. Needless to say, I was very impressed with his performance. Among the other songs played were classics such as "Ain't Know Sunshine" by Bill Withers and local favorites such as red dirt artist Wade Bowen's"Mood Ring". After the show I was able to catch Rick for a quick Q&A. Interestingly enough, for a guy who plays primarily country songs, Rick says that his favorite music to cover and perform is Americana, or the folk orignals, namingly Tom Petty. Check your local venues for Rick as he is sure to not dissapoint even the most skeptical of crowds and offers a show that has just about everything a music enthusiast could ask for.
