Summer Internship/InternOKC-Christine Q

Posted on July 27, 2016

On account of this being my first internship, I didn’t know what to gain or to expect from it. It helped that everyone was very warm and open to me. I feel as if I’ve made great new connections, and references when needed. This internship has opened my eyes to what real life experience would be. Everything from the business calls to meeting with the band members face to face.  There is always something different going on around the office and I’m always able to see a new face or to hear what’s going on.

One of the things that I’ve learned from all of this is that I’ve realized that I didn’t think I could love Oklahoma more than I already do. One of my motto’s now is to ‘work, live, and play’ in Oklahoma. Being an intern is stereo-typically seen as the runt who has to get coffee and run errands, but not at Box Talent. I was able to meet the band members, be there in real time to hear agent to client interaction, and had the honor to write follow-up emails to old and new clients for one of the agents. I’ve learned a lot from being here and it’s put a light on what I truly want to do for the rest of my life. It’s guided me and helped mold me into the woman I want to become.

Another major perk that I was able to be a part of was the InternOKC event. The Greater Chamber brought out professionals I wouldn’t even imagine being in the same room with, such as the Mayor and State Senator! This experience has done nothing but let me reconnect with old friends and make new ones. It’s opened my eyes to different doorways I could take while growing up and knowing it’s okay if I pick a dead end door. You learn and live from your mistakes and experiences. I’ve learned so much from the internship itself and at InternOKC. I loved every second at InternOKC, wishing it would never end. I’m blessed to have this opportunity presented to me this summer. I have enjoyed every moment in office, and I’m ecstatic I was able to come across wonderful people that have positively influenced my life.

As the Internship winds to an end, I realize that I don’t want it to end. I have graduated and am now on a hunt for a career that will fully let me show my true colors, skills, and push me to resolve the challenges that faces me. I hope the road that lies ahead of me will be an amazing journey filled with amazing people, like the ones here at Box Talent.

To the future interns, take time to breathe and let it soak in. The time flies within a blink of an eye!

 Best Wishes,

CQ
