Born in November
Artist Information
OKC’s favorite Urban Soul duo is nothing short of a good time. Experience the soul, sound, the life, and love of music, experience Born In November.
Clifton Johnson (C-Plus) was born and raised in Oklahoma. Humble beginnings led to great individual achievements for Clifton. He began singing at the age of two and although he dabbled in musical experimentation growing up, most of his achievements were of the academic and athletic nature.
In his teenage years, fascinated by the sounds of musicians like Stevie Wonder and Ray C. Cooke, Clifton discovered his own love of music. He began showcasing his vocal ability, grabbing the attention of people in the industry, and quickly was given the opportunity to open for such headlining acts as Joe, Usher, Tony Terry and Mint Condition.
Shortly after that, Clifton joined the U.S. Military to serve his country and fight for the freedom he believes in. After several years in the military, Clifton returned home to pursue his first love, music. He joined the R&B group IV Shaydz. After one album, Clifton decided that singing and playing live would be a more fulfilling avenue for him. He picked up his keyboard, assembled a live show with a former group member, and created the band Born in November.
Hitting the streets relentlessly, as well as booking and promoting all of his shows over the last two years has been pivotal in the phenomenal regional success of Clifton’s band. More recently, Clifton’s band has been exploding in popularity – gaining even more fans and exposure with each show, along with numerous television appearances, internet interviews and newspaper/magazine articles.
To the amazement of all who meet him, Clifton has always played his instruments by ear but recently enriched his talent by learning to play from sheet music. Despite his relentless performing and touring, Clifton has found time to have written, produced and recorded two albums. He will be releasing his solo album soon.
Although Clifton doesn’t like to categorize his music, others have referred to it as a fusion of urban and soul. Playing all over the Midwest, and knowing that the rest of the world is just around the corner, Clifton is ready to share his gift of song with larger audiences. Coupled with his drive and determination, Clifton’s ability to learn and evolve musically have given this multi-talented musician a destiny of stardom.
