King Cabbage Brass Band

King Cabbage Brass Band

Artist Information

King Cabbage Brass Band is Oklahoma’s only New Orleans-inspired brass band, performing pop, R&B, hip-hop, and more! Led by Greg Fallis, a Tulsa native, the vision of the group is to bring the bounce of NOLA back home to Oklahoma. King Cabbage features the finest horn players in the region, who are ready to bring the heat any given night, and make your event into a party!

Our sound fuses the popular New Orleans brass band style with an eclectic blend of Top-40 hits. Typical performances include explosive renditions of recent favorites by artists like Beyoncé, Outkast, Drake, Justin Timberlake, and Rage Against The Machine, as well as our own spin on the brass band standards of Rebirth and Dirty Dozen. Support Oklahoma’s finest, and give your event a unique twist by booking King Cabbage!

The first brass bands Greg Fallis played with were in Memphis, TN. Each one was working regularly, for all types of events, and in a market similar to Tulsa. Then, he moved to New Orleans for a year, which had been planned well in advance, right as Covid hit. Although COVID-19 shut the city down, Greg still had the opportunity to hear some very talented brass bands. There are so many brass bands in NOLA, and around the country, but not here in Oklahoma.

In February of 2021, Greg decided that in the summer he would move back home and start a brass band of his own based in Tulsa. He bought a sousaphone, started writing and transcribing music, and practicing for King Cabbage every day. He hired a graphic designer, created a website, prepared sheet music, hired players, and did as much preparation for the band as possible every night in those four months leading up to the move, all before the first rehearsal. King Cabbage’s inaugural rehearsal was on June 2nd, 2021, and they were ready to perform in front of hundreds of people at a festival less than two weeks later, on June 13th.

The band includes Nicholas Foster on drums, Jordan Hehl on electric bass, Andy McCormick on tenor saxophone, Bishop Konopka-Marsh on trumpet, Matthew Leland on trombone, Ben Hay and Dave Johnson on trumpet.
