Logan Russel & The Young Guns
Artist Information
Country Artist Logan Russell, founder of the band Logan Russell and the Young Guns, continues to gain increased exposure as a talented and versatile performer. Logan’s singing career began at an early age singing for local festivals, churches, and schools. Now at age twenty-four he has performed in venues from Oklahoma City to Ft. Worth, TX. Logan and The Young Guns has quickly become a fixture in the Oklahoma and Texas country music scene with an ever-expanding fan base.
A recent graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Logan became a double major in Music and in Communication, while also playing on the football team. One of his proudest accomplishments is being selected as the 2012 recipient of the Reba McEntire Scholarship. This award, voted on by faculty based on their assessment of a student’s prospects for long-term success as a performer, is particularly rewarding because Ms. McEntire and her music have always been a strong influence in his own music. Logan is not only a performer, but also writes much of his own material. He continues to stretch his abilities by seeking out new opportunities, such as now attempting to add piano to the instruments he has mastered. Logan’s vocal versatility is highlighted by performances with the Southeastern Chorale, music theatre and opera performance, and gospel solos. But make no mistake, this man’s heart is country through and through.
Logan’s music showcases his Oklahoma roots, reflecting the life and spirit of his family ranch in the Criner Hills near Ardmore, Oklahoma. He grew up surrounded by the sounds of his family’s music making and has taken on these experiences as the core of his own performances. Logan’s desire to connect through his music demonstrates a powerful respect and love of family and the positive influence they have had on his life and career.
His musical journey has now led to performances at the Johnnie High Music Revue in Arlington, TX and Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill in OKC. Logan’s experiences have expanded even further by performing as opening act for Stoney Larue, Jason Boland, Zane Williams, Chad Sullins, Sam Riggs, Mark McKinney, Blue Edmonson, Chris Cagle and more. With Logan and the Young Guns he continues to build on his strong country roots while striving to bring a new vibe to traditional sounds.
